Puma and McLaren Racing have officially launched their new partnership with brand-new clothing lines. It looks like Lando Norris and crew will be fitted in fresh threads from the storied sports brand for the upcoming 2026 Formula 1 season.

Interestingly, the partnership also extends to all of McLaren’s racing units. These include the F1 Sim Racing Team and both entries in the F1 Academy. Across the pond, the Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team will be dressed in Puma, and in 2027, the McLaren United AS World Endurance Championship Hypercar Team will follow suit.

The lifestyle collection, highlighted by papaya-accented Speedcats and Piastri-themed t-shirts, is now available on the Puma Philippines online store and McLaren’s website. The replica collection, which will feature clothing similar to what racers and team members wear on track, will launch later in February.

Of course, Puma is no stranger to the F1 track. Having previously sponsored more than a few teams in the past, it will be exciting to see what else the brand will cook up over its multi-year partnership with McLaren Racing.

“It is a great honor to write the next chapter by welcoming McLaren Racing, the 2025 Constructors’ and Drivers’ Champions, as our new partners,” said Arthur Hoeld, CEO of Puma. “We are looking forward to many successful races together and engaging with the team’s passionate fans around the world to create inspiring collections for them that show the best both brands have to offer.”

At a recent media event, Toyota Motor Philippines shared the full season schedule of the 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup—and it looks like we’re kicking things off with a street circuit.

The first races will take place on the weekend of March 13 to 15, 2026 at Riverpark, Cavite—a commercial and residential development project by Federal Land and Nomura Real Estate. The next events will then be moved to traditional tracks in the following months.

The 2026 season will also see the inaugural Toyota Tamaraw one-make race tournament. President of Toyota Motor Philippines, Masando Hashimoto, confirmed this during the 2025 Cup, with 30 Tamaraw units eyed to join the race.

It is still unclear what the race kit and modifications will look like, but we can expect suspension upgrades, a limited-slip differential, and more safety equipment. Last year, an exhibition race was held with five Tamaraw units dressed in Gazoo Racing liveries. It’ll be exciting to see what Toyota does with its famed workhorse as it gears up for another exciting racing season.

A new international-standard race track is taking shape in Barangay Prado Siongco, Lubao, Pampanga, which will become the future home of Formula 3 races and car enthusiasts in the country.

The 4.8-kilometer track is designed by Tilke Engineers, a German firm known for its work on the Formula 1 circuit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Once completed, it is expected to rival famous circuits in Monaco, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia, and the Middle East.

“This is gonna be a club track that will host national races, with 4.8 kilometers, three configurations, drag strips, two club loops, a very interesting pit building—V-shaped—and one of a kind in the Philippines,” Hisham Attya, world-class F1 and MotoGP race track architect, said.

The construction is expected to be completed in a year and a half.

Once finished, the project aims to put Pampanga on the global motorsport map, not just as a competitor but as a leading destination for high-speed racing in Asia.

Iñigo Anton has secured the rookie championship in this year’s Formula 4 Southeast Asia series. The 20-year-old, wearing no. 33, raced quickly and consistently all season long, securing top finishes in almost all races. He was put out of action in the final race due to illness, but even with those lost points, Anton remained at the top of the rookie class.

While this was his first F4 tournament, Anton is no stranger to competition. He’s been behind the wheel since he was 10, and broke the Tarlac Circuit Hill lap record when he was 12. Since then, he’s been a fixture at the annual Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup, driving in the Super Sporting Class.

PHOTO BY Formula 4 South East Asia Championship

And what’s next for Iñigo Anton? More international competition, hopefully. He also looks to compete in other racing categories and styles. In a statement made to the Philippine Sports Commission, Anton made sure to take the pride of the Philippines wherever his racing career takes him.

“This victory is not just mine—it’s for every Filipino who dreams big. To raise our flag on the podium and hear our anthem play is a moment I’ll carry forever. I’m proud to represent the Philippines and show the world what we’re capable of,” said Anton.

Most recently, the racer returned to his karting roots and won the Asia Pacific Motorsport Championship Slalom Karting in the senior class. The event took place in Sri Lanka, and had over 200 racers on track. Behind an already storied past, there is still a bright future for the young driver.

The 2025 season has ended and McLaren have won both the constructors' and drivers' championships - but now things are about to change in Formula 1. Next year, the sport will enter a new dawn.

The 2025 season has ended and McLaren have won both the constructors’ and drivers’ championships – but now things are about to change in Formula 1.

Next year, the sport will enter a new dawn of technical regulations and also welcome an 11th team on the grid.

BBC Sport runs down the key things to look out for in the 2026 season.

Bold new era of rules

The new rules being brought in for 2026 are the biggest change in F1 for years – if not ever.

Cars will be smaller, nimbler and more environmentally friendly.

They will be 30kg lighter, 10cm narrower and have engines with a near 50-50 split between electric and internal combustion power – and use fully sustainable fuels.

Will the racing be any different? Yes, but how different is one of many unknowns.

The chassis and engine rules have never both been changed at the same time to this extent.

There will be new aerodynamic rules, and the power units, while of similar architecture to the past 12 years, have been significantly modified in terms of technology.

The engines remain 1.6-litre V6 turbo hybrids, but the MGU-H, which recovers energy from the exhaust and turbo, has been removed, while the proportion of power produced by the hybrid part of the engine has been more or less doubled to about 50%.

This has required major changes to aerodynamics. Not only has the venturi-underbody ground effect philosophy introduced in 2022 been abandoned, but movable front and rear wings have been introduced. That’s to increase straight-line speed to enable more energy harvesting under braking.

For some time, there have been varying levels of concern expressed by the drivers about how this will affect the racing.

There will be some idiosyncrasies, it seems. The internal combustion engine will spend a fair bit of its time acting as a generator for the battery. So engines will be at maximum revs in some corners, for example.

The DRS overtaking aid has gone, because the opening of the rear wing is required for other purposes. So instead there will be a push-to-pass button that gives extra electrical energy for a time.

“It’s really, really hard to predict what it’s going to be like,” says Lewis Hamilton. “I don’t want to dog it. I don’t want to say too many negative things.

“It feels so much different and I’m not sure you’re going to like it. But maybe I’ll be surprised. Maybe it’ll be amazing. Maybe overtaking will be incredible. Maybe it’ll be easier to overtake. I don’t know.

“We have less downforce, more torque. Driving in the rain, I can imagine it’s going to be very, very, very tough. Much harder than it is already with what we have today. But as I said, we might arrive and we might have better grip than we anticipated.”

The majority of the drivers will remain the same in 2026, but there are a few changes to look out for, including a British rookie.

Frenchman Isack Hadjar, who claimed his first F1 podium at the Dutch Grand Prix, makes the step up from Racing Bulls to replace Yuki Tsunoda as Max Verstappen’s team-mate at Red Bull.

Taking Hadjar’s seat at Red Bull’s sister team will be 18-year-old Briton Arvid Lindblad.

Lindblad, who has a Swedish father and a mother of Indian descent, finished his Formula 2 campaign with Campos Racing in sixth place and will be team-mate to New Zealander Liam Lawson.

Cadillac joins the grid

Image caption,Valtteri Bottas (left) has 10 races wins in Formula 1 while Sergio Perez (right) has six

Ten teams will become 11 next season when Cadillac, backed by US car giant General Motors, joins the grid.

Cadillac have opted for experience over youth and chosen ex-Mercedes man Valtteri Bottas and former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez, with 106 podium finishes between them, as their inaugural line-up.

Briton Graeme Lowdon, who has previously worked for former F1 teams Virgin and Marussia, will be team principal.

The American team will purchase and use power units from Ferrari for their first three seasons, with their own GM-developed engines set to arrive for 2029.

Sauber become Audi

Audi are another new name for next season, but – unlike Cadillac – the German manufacturer has taken over the Swiss-based Sauber team, who finished ninth in the 2025 constructors’ championship.

Audi is designing an engine for its entry, which coincides with the introduction of the new power-unit regulations.

Jonathan Wheatley will be team boss and work alongside former Ferrari principal Mattia Binotto, who is head of Audi’s F1 project.

German driver Nico Hulkenberg and Brazilian Gabriel Bortoleto, Sauber’s driver pairing in 2025, will be Audi’s maiden line-up.

Red Bull will begin an engine partnership deal with US car giant Ford, which is part-funding the power-units Red Bull are designing for the new regulations.

That brings to an end Red Bull’s partnership with Honda. The Japanese manufacturer will now be the works power unit supplier to Aston Martin, where F1 design legend Adrian Newey is to become team principal as part of a major restructure.

There is another significant engine change after Renault ended its F1 power unit programme. Renault’s Alpine team will now be paying to use Mercedes engines.

Madrid replaces Imola on calendar

Image caption,Construction work taking place on the Madring circuit that will host the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix

The F1 calendar is once again 24 races – starting in Australia in March and ending in Abu Dhabi in December – but there will be two trips to Spain instead of one next year.

The Spanish Grand Prix will be held on a new circuit in Madrid and effectively replaces the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.

The Madring will be a hybrid track, a mixture of public roads and private land with that section under construction.

It will be held from 11-13 September as the final race of an uninterrupted European leg of the season.

Barcelona remains on the calendar and is now known as the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, taking place 12-14 June.

Canada’s race weekend switches from June to 22-24 May so it can take place in the same month as the Miami Grand Prix, which is pencilled in for 1-3 May.

As a result, Monaco moves back, from May to 5-7 June.

As for sprint events, Silverstone is among the six tracks chosen to host a shorter race next season along with China, Miami, Canada, the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort – which is in its final year on the calendar – and Singapore.

An Insider’s Guide to Understanding Racing Strategies: From Pit Stops to Overtaking

In the high-speed world of motor racing, success is not just about having the fastest car or the most skilled driver. Understanding and executing effective racing strategies can significantly influence the outcome of a race. This guide aims to delve into the intricate strategies that teams and drivers utilize to gain a competitive edge, from the art of pit stops to the tactics of overtaking.

The Essence of Racing Strategies

Racing strategies are comprehensive plans developed by teams to optimize performance and ensure the best possible outcome in a race. These strategies are meticulously tailored to each track, weather condition, and the competitive landscape. The primary goal is to maximize speed and efficiency while minimizing time and errors. Let’s explore some core components of racing strategies.

Pit Stops: The Heart of Race Strategy

Pit stops are short intervals during a race when a car pulls into the pit lane for fuel, tire changes, repairs, or adjustments. These stops are critical, as they are directly linked to race outcomes.

During a pit stop, the clock is the biggest enemy. Teams practice relentlessly to shave off every possible millisecond. A well-executed pit stop can create a significant time advantage, while a mistake can cost a race.

Fuel strategy is also pivotal. Teams must decide how much fuel to add during stops, balancing the car’s weight with the need for speed. Fuel-efficient cars may require fewer stops, providing a strategic advantage.

Tire Management and Strategy

Tires play a crucial role in racing strategy. The type of tire used—soft, medium, or hard—can affect grip and speed. The choice depends on track conditions and weather.

Understanding tire management is essential for drivers. Conserving tires can mean fewer pit stops, while aggressive use can lead to faster lap times but potentially more stops. Teams often use tire strategies to gain a competitive edge during critical phases of a race.

Overtaking: A Delicate Balance

Overtaking is the art of passing a competitor on track. It requires skill, timing, and strategy. Drivers must weigh the risks and rewards of overtaking moves, as mistimed attempts can lead to contact or off-track excursions.

Overtaking is especially challenging on circuits with few overtaking zones, where drivers must capitalize on every opportunity. Slipstreaming, or drafting, is a common technique used to overtake on straights by reducing air resistance.

Weather and Track Conditions

Weather conditions can drastically alter racing strategies. Rain, for example, changes the grip levels and visibility, requiring teams to adapt quickly. Wet weather tires may be necessary, and drivers must modify their driving style to maintain control.

Track conditions also influence strategy. A track with high tire wear may demand a conservative approach, while a newly resurfaced track might offer more grip, encouraging aggressive racing.

Data and Technology: The Modern Racing Edge

In the modern era, data and technology play a significant role in formulating racing strategies. Teams use real-time data analytics to monitor various performance metrics, including tire wear, fuel consumption, and engine health.

Advanced technology enables teams to make informed decisions quickly, adapting strategies on the fly to respond to dynamic race conditions. This data-driven approach has become essential for competitive success.

Conclusion: The Art and Science of Racing
